Today Emmett and I ran our first race - mind you it was only a mile (and it about killed me), but a race none the less. We were waiting at the starting line and he was getting all antsy as I was trying to explain about going slow at first so you have more energy at the end. Well, in one ear and out the other.... They said go and Emmett was off like a shot. At about a 1/4 mile he had lost me in the crowd - never even looking back - swerving around and passing people like the race car I'm sure he was imagining himself to be. Thank goodness, it was a loop so I could run back and catch up to him after he had lost some steam. He made it to the finish line - though he was dragging. I was so proud of him - even when he was exhausted he kept jogging along as fast as he could.
